Thomas Glynn Parsons, 81 passed away on July 18, 2021 in Greenhill Villas in Mount Pleasant, TX. He was born on November 27, 1939 in Groesbeck, Texas to Thomas Menzo Parsons and Evie Belle (Hines) Parsons.
He had been a resident of Mount Vernon since 1994. Prior to moving to Mount Vernon he had been a resident of Carrollton Texas.
Tom met his wife Marilyn Smith when they were teens, at a church event in Bellmeade Texas. They were instant sweethearts and married in 1960. Tom was a 1964 graduate of Baylor University with a degree in Business Administration. He went to work for Texas Utilities, formerly Texas Power and Light, for 30 years in management. Tom and his wife Marilyn lived in Texas their entire life, and his work with TP&L they moved over a dozen times. The couple owned and operated several businesses in Mount Vernon on the downtown square, Parson’s Parade, The Cherry Tree and Heart and Home. He was member of First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon.
Thomas was preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn Virginia Parsons, his daughter Misti Dawn Parsons and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Cleveland and husband, Jim of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Katie Gambill and husband Daniel of Heath, TX and John Thomas Cleveland and wife, Hayley of Edmond, OK; three great grandchildren, Gabriel Gambill, Grant Gambill and Josephine Parsons Cleveland; brother, Mark Edward Parsons and wife, Ruth Ann of Athens, TX.; sister, Elizabeth Jane “Janie” Chapin and husband, Jerry of Kentucky.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2021 at Collvins Memorial Funeral Home.
